Colin Green – Chair Caldecott Fostering Board
“The Caldecott Fostering Board meets four times a year to oversee our fostering service. These meetings are always a pleasure as we hear about the fantastic work of our foster carers in helping children build a future. Our last meeting in October was no exception. We heard about the continuing good progress of the children in foster homes, the way our foster carers have managed throughout all the difficulties and worries of the Covid 19 pandemic and the commitment and enthusiasm of our staff. We were especially interested in the work to ensure that the voices of the children living with foster carers including the foster parents’ children are heard and what they say helps to shape our service.
We hope that we can have more face to face meetings in 2022 and look forward to being able to join foster carers and children at events during the year.”

What challenges have you faced during lockdown, and how have you overcome them?
We really missed the support from our extended family- having days out with our young people and family members as that takes the pressure of the fostering day to day role. I think it was worse because we had no respite for the year, and the youngest person is very needy. The older young people were also home. All three need routine, they completely lost everything familiar to them and ......Read more -
